I had such a wonderful experience visiting my neighbor Devin's farm. He had brought one of his goats, "Trouble", over to eat some of the long grass in my yard. When he came to pick her up, about 8:00 pm, I walked back with them to see some of the new babies on his farm.
Momma above was next in line to give birth. Cocoa had already birthed one baby when I got there. She was one hour old. What a cutie! I fell in love. I got to hold her for about an hour while waiting for Cocoa to birth the second baby she was carrying. I so enjoyed holding her first baby. I was fascinated to find that her little hooves were soft, like the pads on a dogs foot. Devin said they will harden up in the next few days, and will feel like regular hooves.
Next is a pretty new white mama feeding her babies.
Above, light colored babies (two of them) were born a few hours before Cocoa's babies were born. They are all so very cute. I guess I bonded the most with Cocoa's first baby. I loved holding her. I felt so sad to have to hand her back to Devin when I headed home.
Goats were not the only cute babies I got to hold and enjoy....
Baby ducks,
Baby turkeys,
Baby chickens
... such beautiful chickens and their eggs are just as pretty. We get to enjoy their eggs often. There is just nothing like eggs fresh from the farm.
These eggs are close to hatching. Either turkey, duck, or chickens. I know Devin has them marked, but I don't know what the codes are. The room where he has all the eggs hatching is very warm and bright.
Sweet, soft little bunnies ....
Such a soft gray coloring .... it will soon turn white though, except for his ears and nose.
This is Trouble. She is one of the last bred, so will probably be the last to deliver baby/babies.
I did not go home until after 10:00 PM. Dogs were worried. I heard Pirate howling as I walked home in the dark. The stars were incredible - so bright it was almost like moonlight. Did I mention I love this place, so much!
When I opened the door I was happily greeted by Pirate. Journey gave me a very fast greeting and then went into the garage. He stuck his head in the doggy door and watched me fix their dinner, but I don't think he liked my new goat perfume. I got in the shower and he finally came over to me a little later, when I was sitting on the couch. I believe I am forgiven.
