I have been trying to buy a dog bed. It is not exceptional structurally, just an egg-crate type foam rubber bed. The color was nice though "Chocolate" and the price was right. I found it online, at a place that was new to me - nomorerack. I had recently been seeing many nicely priced items they were offering for sale.
I placed my order and tried to check out with paypal. Paypal seemed to work just fine and took all my information. Then I kept getting a message from nomorerack saying they could not open an account due to my email address.
After several unsuccessful tries, I decided to try Customer Care at nomorerack. I left the following message:
I have been trying to buy a dog bed - Pets FurHaven Deluxe Extra-Large Orthopedic Pet Mattress, color- Chocolate - $39.00. I placed my order, tried to check out with Paypal (which was offered as a method of payment.) I kept getting a message from nomorerack saying they could not open an account due to my email address. I have had this email address for at least 15 years. No one else has had a problem with it. I need to know if I will be getting the dog bed. If you will not be sending it, I need to cancel the paypal payment to you.

I don't think I have an account with nomorerack. I tried to open one, but it did not like my email address. As I said, I have had this email address for about 15 years. I don't see why nomorerack cannot use the email that everyone else uses to contact me. What is your problem with it? All I am trying to do is buy a pet bed. I wanted to use paypal, but I really don't care and if it is easier for you I can just use a credit card. You don't have to open an account for me unless it is just something you have to do to sell me that pet bed. This is such a trial, I probably would not want to try to use nomorerack again anyway, but I would like to buy that pet bed if you can figure out a way to sell it to me. I have all the cards you say you will accept. I could even send you a check if you prefer. I just want the bed. I am going to cancel the paypal charge unless you let me know that you are sending the pet bed.
Please, I have a German Shepherd who would really like that bed. If you cannot sell it to me just let me know right away - like today would be good. Thanks, Betty Tanner.

Well, I followed all your well meant instructions. I opened a new account with my email (which it accepted this time) and I added a password. The site told me all was well and that I was now registered and had an account. I exited and tried to go into it again, with my email and password. It told me I was not registered, so I tried again. This time it told me that the password I tried was already used by someone else - probably my other self? After several hours of attempting to obtain an account with nomorerack, I was ready to give up, but had a thought that maybe I could just buy it with my credit card, without opening an account. That did not work either. I don't know why, but I just decided to check on the dog bed I so wanted to buy. It is gone now, (there were only 2 left when I began this ordeal). So I am now able to let this go. As you can see, I don't give up easily, but since you no longer have the item I wanted, it was much easier to forget it.
I went on overstock.com and searched dog beds and low and behold, there was the bed. I opened an account in minutes, bought the bed, and some other stuff which I put on my Paypal account, like I tried to do at your site. Everything worked perfectly; order was confirmed by Paypal and Overstock and I will be receiving my order (shipped free) in about a week.
I saw several other things I would like to have purchased at your site, but regretfully I am going to have to try to forget I ever heard of nomorerack. Thanks for trying to help, but I guess it is nomorerack for me. I thought it was a funny name when I first saw it, but I guess I have a better idea now of why it is named that.

About this time my daughter happened to call. I related the story to her. She was laughing so much I decided to post this on my blog, just for fun. When my daughter had asked about the item, she checked and found it newly listed on guess where ... none other than nomorerack. It had been relisted. She asked me if I still wanted it and I said yes, but not bad enough to try to get it. (The one I got at Overstock was not the pretty chocolate one I wanted.) I held on and she was back in less than 4 minutes. She had purchased the pretty chocolate bed and said it would be delivered to my house. She did not use my name though, thank goodness, just in case I am jinxed at nomorerack.
You might figure that this story is finished, but there is one more funny thing to report. One day I came home to find a pretty good size white plastic round package way across our property - maybe a hundred feet or more from our gate. I have a locked entry gate and since I was not home, the FedEx woman often places packages over our fence. On my mailbox was a small Santa note wherein our delivery woman appologized for throwing the package so far across the lawn.
When I retrieved the package and put it in the car to drive up to my garage, somehow it seemed such an appropriate ending after realizing it was THE BED! They had wrapped it in shrink wrap, kind of like they wrap boats that are on trailers for long trips. They had sucked the air out of the package, so it was tight and round. When our delivery woman threw it, (no she does not possess Herculean strength), it was not heavy and it just rolled.
I have not tried to open another account at nomorerack. I resisted the urge to tell them that in spite of all their efforts against it, I had managed to get the bed I wanted. I did not answer their request as to how I rated the support I received. Somehow, maybe it was the vision of little Mikee and Jimilynn, struggling in their very first jobs. Or maybe it was just that it was Christmas time.... and that we were lacking a little Christmas spirit due to losing Quest. The bed was for him. Journey and Pirate are enjoying the two new beds though and I am sure Quest would not mind because he loved them both dearly and he loved Christmas.
