We had a visit with some wonderful guests. Michelle brought Journey's littermate, (Lime collar boy), "Charlie" to see us. Journey and Charlie are 11 months old today. (Charlie has his collar on in these pictures). I meant to only let Journey out first, but Quest and Pirate had other plans and after these pictures were taken they were all out. I was concerned that it might be a little overwhelming for Charlie but he handled it very well.
I captured some of the first pictures of the meeting with the pups alone.
."You look like me" "No, you look like me"
"Well that is a surprise to me. I thought I was and only child"
The play began.
It was so much fun watching the dogs reactions to each other. Pirate offered his Jolly Ball to Charlie, but I think he really only meant to show it to him. When Charlie picked it up and proceeded to carry it around, Pirate followed him anxiously, not letting him out of his sight with the Jolly Ball. Journey followed too, to see if Pirate was going to take it away from Charlie like he takes it away from Journey.
Quest was just the best big brother. He kept order and cautioned everyone who got a little rough. They all listened to him. He likes Charlie a lot and I believe Charlie liked him best too.
It was interesting to see how different Charlie and Journey were, in addition to how much alike. Charlie is very mature. He not only looks more mature than Journey, he acts mature. I guess that comes from being an only pup now. Journey is such a puppy. His brothers baby him and he feels secure with them by him. One time Journey did something Charlie didn't like. I didn't see it, but I think it may have had to do with the Jolly Ball. Charlie took off after Journey and chased him up to the top of the hill. Journey yipped (I think he thought he was going to get caught), and Quest was there in a split second it seemed, to break it up, but Charlie had already turned back to be sure not to lose sight of Michelle. After that, Journey was way more respectful and stayed pretty close to me. One time I went in the house for something and I actually thought Journey was with me - it was Charlie instead.
We had such a nice visit. Michelle and her parents are traveling around the Northwest, doing some sight-seeing, with Charlie. They are in town for a couple more days and Charlie and Michelle stop by in the evenings so Charlie can run and have some fun - a break from riding in the car.
I believe Charlie and Quest are the best friends. Probably a lot to do with Quest being Alpha. It is so much fun to watch them. Quest stalks Charlie and Charlie likes it. They actually wrestle and play. Charlie does not like it much when my boys go close to Michelle. He quickly goes back to his mom and pushes in between them. All is peaceful though and they are all having such an interesting experience. I can't really see signs that Charlie remembers it here, though he was here until he left with Michelle when he was 8 weeks old. He spent a lot of time in my arms when he was a baby. He was about the most cuddly of the puppies and always wanted to crawl up into my lap. Hopefully we will have a couple more visits before they have to return to California.
